Please Support America's Heroes Today
Veterans with Horses is a program offered to veterans, active duty personnel, first responders, law enforcement, and their families. This program at GAIT is specially designed to address the effects of PTSD, stress, anxiety, depression, and burnout for participants through equine-assisted activities and therapies.
Remaining relaxed in the present moment and maintaining interpersonal connections with others can be difficult for those who have served in our military and/or emergency services. Equine Services for Heroes, offered in accordance with PATH Intl. standards and guidelines, provides free therapeutic horsemanship to servicemen and servicewomen to address their emotional, physical, social, and/or mental needs.
Interactions and relationships with horses have been proven effective for physical and emotional rehabilitation, including brain injuries and PTSD. Riding and working with horses allows participants a temporary escape from the stress and pressure of the outside world. Horses can teach participants how to be present in the moment and to let go of all the noise and clutter.
GAIT’s Veterans with Horses program focuses on establishing a partnership between the horse and individual to build trust, improve personal decision making, and increase confidence. The feedback from GAIT's Veterans with Horses participants is overwhelmingly positive: All participants report a noticeable difference in their day-to-day lives as a result of their work at GAIT.
These services are offered free to participants, but there is a cost to GAIT. The more funds we raise, the more heroes (and their family members) we can help! Please support Veterans with Horses today.
